Today we saw some very unusual creations made from wire, something I had never realised could be done since mangling paper clips on a boring day in the office. Philippa took us through her journey from its early days, on to more complicated creations, which showed her affinity with animals and line drawing. She passed round several different kinds of wire, and explained the process of bending, welding, and for the donkey, making an armature out of newspaper, wrapping it with wire and then burning the paper away, before adding wool and thread to make the fur.
She had brought a selection of books along to showcase the work of other workers in wire.
